Share your charity's videos on YouTube

YouTube is a video sharing site that lets you store short videos for private or public viewing. In 2008, YouTube had over 10 million users in the UK, making it the most popular video-sharing site.

YouTube has created a specific channel for charities and social enterprises in the UK - it's non-profit channel. This gives you a way of reaching people who are interested in the not-for-profit sector. Make sure you include a comprehensive list of tags with any video you upload.

Whenever you upload a video try to promote it widely, for example on your social networking page, in your e-newsletter, and on your website (here's YouTube's help entry on embedding videos).

If you don't have the equipment to produce a video, see if your supporters or students at a local college could help out. Or, if you are a charity, you can apply to the Media Trust's Volunteer Films project, which allows you to get a professionally produced film for £1,000.

Other video-sharing sites that your charity or social enterprise may want to look at include Revver and MetaCafe. Or if you produce podcasts, take a look at Odeo, which allows you to share video and audio clips.
